Unusual real estate stories from a Realtor and Contractor

There is always funny stuff that goes on in many different homes, I want to share some of those stories for you.

Real estate has many different aspects and the people who do funny things. Had a home in Chandler Az that basically had huge koi pond type of pool in the backyard. We purchased the home and I sent my usual pool guy out to give me a quote on repairing the pool.

The pool guy called and mentioned that the pool was made out of cement and he could not plaster the pool like we usually we do.

I immediately started to research how to repair a pool made out of cement? Home depot had a product that you had to roll on the pool to cover it. The cost was about half that of plastering the pool,  the only issue was the pool needed that done every 2 years. So the Koi pond pool was finished and we learned something new and I have the say it looked weird. I rented that home for 5 years and sold it and made some great money on it.

We also purchased a property in Scottsdale Az that had an insert pool, which I will get to later. As we where tiling the home the owner came in and ask why the tile guy was not using spacers on the tile. I told the owner that my tile installer was the best and did not need the spacers. He wanted to chat with him about it, I ask him not to, but he was a persistent guy and went ahead and did it anyway.

He went over to Javier (the tile installer) and ask him why he did not use spacers. After a brief heated conversation Javier went to the other side of the room and placed a penny on the floor. He then pushed that penny across the floor of this large living area. The penny jetted across the room and never stopped.

The owner then came over to me and apologized for questioning Javier and left, I just got a good laugh out of it.

After that we noticed the pool was was leaking, it was an insert pool. They are common in the mid west, but not common in the west. There was literally one guy that did repairs for them in Phoenix. The prices was fair , but the water needed drained that cost a few hundred dollars.
